Kuala Lumpur, November 25 – Bursa Malaysia ended Friday trading day in negative territory, with the FBM KLCI shed 15.34 points or -1.02% at 1,486.54. The benchmark retreated due to profit-taking after it made a huge advance yesterday with 4% jump. Also, the lacklustre of regional peers may influence the performance of the local bourse.

Despite the broadly positive cues from European markets overnight, Asian stock markets mostly ended lower, as market participants refrained from making significant moves amid a lack of fresh triggers when the U.S. stock market was closed for Thanksgiving Day. Also what weighed down on investors’ sentiment are the surge in COVID cases in China and prospects of global growth.

The Australian stock market ended modestly higher, extending the gains in the previous three sessions. The ASX/S&P 200 Index was lifted by technology and financial stocks. The sentiment remains cautiously optimistic the US Federal Reserve may scale down the pace of its interest rate increases.
