Dear Editor: After watching the embarrassing loss to Michigan, I’m wondering if OSU’s coaching staff plans to show up for the game against Georgia. The coaching staff was absent and apparently just missed the last game.Chet Ridenour, Worthington
dear brian: USA Today Network Articles about next year’s Heisman hopefuls A short excerpt on Marvin Harrison Jr. is included. Of course, we know the non-QB has no chance because the Heisman voters only know to watch the guy who has the ball every game. But, the writeup included the observation that “regardless of who takes the snap (as the OSU QB in 2023), Harrison and this offense will put up big numbers.” This is the definition of acceptable. This line of thinking is why no OSU head football coach has won Coach of the Year in at least 40 years, and why our QB can’t win the Heisman. It’s a compliment of sorts, but it denies recognition to the people who put in so much effort to make victory look so easy to take for granted.

to the sports editor: After realizing it’s over, here’s my perspective: Three weeks ago, Justin Fields set a flamboyant record for an NFL quarterback. Four weeks ago, CJ Stroud showed off his skills as a rusher against Northwestern. If Coach Day was worried about CJ getting hurt, bring in one of our baseball coaches and teach our quarterback how to slide. Had a lot of chances and could have made the difference in the game. Think about it. It could even win CJ the Heisman.

to the EditorOhio loves the Buckeyes, and it’s time to show it. Georgia is going to be a challenge but our team can lease the Bulldogs if we believe in and support them. Let us show our better angels and lead our Buckeyes to victory through positive thoughts. If OSU loses, the haters will certainly call for Mike Vrabel to replace Coach Day, but let’s go with the coach and team, we don’t have a coach and team that only exist in fairy tales. Go to Bucks and show CJ that Woody is with him and not against him.

to the sports editor,
Twas the Night Before Christmas
And I had a lot to do.
i still can’t stop thinking
How we got beat out of the blue.
when we come short
the city was in shock
parties were canceled
this was no time to rock
The banners now hang at half mast.
Could it be true?
we lost two years in a row
by Big Blue!
The city was in mourning.
Our number two position was lost.
penalties and big plays
Definitely cost.
buckeyes still full of hope
when the news finally came
That Utah Clipped USC
Getting us back in the game!
Happiness returned, we all had a big smile on our faces
In the hope that Stroud would pass for Miles.
the dizziness and buzzing were gone
Now this was a playoff scene that will dance in our heads.
When suddenly there was so much noise, I jumped from my cot to see what was the matter.
To my delight he appeared in a sleigh
It was Woody Hayes who dressed in scarlet and gray.
she winked at us
And said, boys, Christmas came early
Now kick Georgia’s ass.
Georgia comes in all bully and pump
But if our D catches on, the dogs will be punked.
one step at a time.
We’ll climb that ladder.
and maybe one more shot
That’s all that matters in Big Blue.

to Brian: I thought this void arrangement was meant to allow companies to pay athletes to endorse their products. But when I hear collectivism, it sounds like it’s become something very different. Isn’t it surprising? It’s starting to sound like paid boosters to more and more players, but it’s all respectable now. And for those who want to transfer, it has become free agency for rookies, and then has an impact on recruiting. One thing I’d like to see, though, be provisions in those contracts that would withhold a significant amount of that money from a player – oh, I mean student-athlete – who chooses to skip a bowl game.
Dennis Singleton, Dayton
to the sports department: I, like many Buckeye Nation fans, am frustrated with the position we’ve been put in. zero issue And now it’s up to college presidents and athletic directors to raise the money to meet NIL’s needs. Where were those organizations when huge TV deals worth crores were signed? It appears they all rolled around like so many fans suspected they would. That is, it has become our responsibility to support the NIL needs of OSU athletes. Let’s face it, we are now supporting sports teams the same way professional sports fans support their teams. Face it, this is the National College Football League, or NCFL. College presidents and athletic directors need to come together as soon as possible to protect the sports we love.

dear mr white:ah, December football: high school and the NCAA D-III playoffs; third-string NFL QB (Fluco) and third-Team The guys (Mayfield) are getting meaningful snaps during the NFL’s 17-game slog and, lest we forget, the flag-waving hype machine turns “11” for Army vs. Navy.
Hope everyone reads Rob Oller”12-Team CFP Both Tasty and Hard to Swallow,”A comprehensive look at how the new playoff format will change college football, and the December experience in particular. (He finds the prospect of Florida State visiting Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium in late December especially appealing, he says.) Plus, now the NFL has concluded that Christmas Day isn’t just for Santa and LeBron James. No, see also how to develop that league. Its habit of scheduling prime-time games based on prestige combined with a dash of “event bias” led to the Bucs, Rams, Packers, Steelers, Broncos, Browns and Raiders decision to shut down in 2022. Is. The expectation is that the NFL will increasingly “flex” its late-season lineup to get rid of pairings that seem like a good idea at the time. And, finally, when will both the NCAA and NFL refuse to give up an entire December Saturday out of respect for Army vs. Navy? My guess: very, very soon.
