LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A group of good samaritans helped keep an Oklahoma man from leaving a Downtown Lincoln parking garage on Saturday after he attempted to kidnap a woman, police say.
Around 2:20 a.m., a 20-year-old woman ran from a parking garage looking for help after she says a man tried to kidnap her.
According to Lincoln Police, the woman was walking to her vehicle when she noticed the man following her.
Once she got to her vehicle, the man grabbed and pinned her against the vehicle, police say. When she started to scream, he put his fingers inside of her mouth and tried to force her into the vehicle.
The man ran away once the woman bit him, police say. She then ran from the parking garage and asked a group of people on the sidewalk for help.
The good samaritans searched the parking garage and eventually found 22-year-old Shawn Young of Eufaula, Oklahoma in his vehicle.
The group kept Young from leaving the parking garage until police officers arrived.
Young was arrested on suspicion of first-degree false imprisonment. He was also cited on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence and third-degree assault.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
