In this article, you will get all information regarding Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris and Arber Xhekaj could go down in history – OI Canadian

Normally, having several rookie backs is synonymous with defensive difficulties. Still, despite their lack of NHL experience, Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris, Arber Xhekaj and Johnathan Kovacevic are very impressive this year.

It’s still four rookies who play very regularly in the Habs roster.

At just 20 years old, Guhle is already playing as a number one defender and on some nights he is Martin St-Louis’ most used fullback. Harris and Xhekaj have their ups and downs, but more often than not they do a great job. In their shadow, Kovacevic plays very solid hockey.

Not only is this success visible on the ice, but as Jean-François Chaumont mentions, it is also visible on the score sheet.

Indeed, Guhle (13 points), Harris (11) and Xhekaj (10) are currently among the top 10 scorers among NHL rookie defensemen. It would be a rare feat, since Raphaël Diaz was the last to do so, during the 2011-2012 season.

And the more we dig, the more we realize that if young people keep up the pace, they will certainly go down in history. The last time three rookie Canadian backs had a season like this was in 1984-1985!

Chris Chelios then scored 64 points in 74 games. Tom Kurvers, 45 in 75 games and Petr Svoboda, 31 in 73 games. They finished first, second and ninth in scoring among first-year defensemen, respectively.

We shouldn’t forget about Kovacevic either. Although the latter has less offensive skills than the other three, he currently ranks 12th.

If the other three maintain their production and Kovacevic succeeds in encrusting themselves in the top-10, it would be a first since 1964 for CH. Jacques Laperrière, Terry Harper, Bryan Watson and Ted Harris had then achieved the feat.

Except that the league had only six teams at the time and Watson had only scored two points, while Harris had one!

Obviously, a good first year does not guarantee a long career in the NHL. We must still admit that the performances of Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj and Kovacevic greatly exceed expectations.

And with other prospects, like Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, Adam Engstrom and possibly others who will be drafted in the coming years, the CH blue line has potential for the first time in a long time.

– A beautiful goal for the hope of the CH.

– The attack is explosive, but it’s very weak in front of the net.
