Man dies after cars crash into Lachine shopping centre

A 53-year-old man died of his injuries Monday night after a car crash in the parking lot of the Galeries Lachine shopping centre.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the borough of Lachine. A car hit a parked vehicle with such force that both vehicles smashed into the front of the shopping centre.

The driver who was fatally injured was exiting his parked vehicle when the impact occurred. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

A 58-year-old passenger in the parked car suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

The driver of the moving vehicle, a 76-year-old man, was treated for nervous shock and the investigation into the collision is continuing.
