Man, woman dead in murder-suicide in Pointe-aux-Trembles: Montreal police

A man and a woman are dead following what Montreal police are describing as a murder-suicide in Pointe-aux-Trembles.

The woman’s body showed signs of violence and “everything indicates that the man took his own life,” SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said early Tuesday morning.

Police were alerted to the event around midnight, at which point they made their way to the scene on 25th Ave. near Notre-Dame St. The bodies of the man and woman, both 45, were discovered on the fire-escape stairs, Chèvrefils said. Both people were declared dead at the scene.

“The circumstances surrounding this homicide are currently unknown,” Chèvrefils said. 

The scene was protected for major-crimes unit investigators and crime-scene technicians to analyze. Officers went door to door to collect information from possible witnesses.

The woman’s death marks the 40th homicide of 2022 on the SPVM’s territory, and the investigation is ongoing.
