Prague is ready for New Year’s cleaning 2023

27.12. – New Year’s celebrations tend to be the most boisterous in the capital, and after two years associated with covid measures that brought a number of restrictions, people will return to the streets of the metropolis. Technical administration of communications hl. m of Prague (TSK) together with the supplier of cleaning services are carefully preparing for this return of Prague residents and visitors to the city center. An area of ​​less than 150,000 square meters will be cleaned on the right bank of the Vltava, and 41,000 square meters on the left bank. Cleaning will be provided by a hundred manual cleaning workers and more than thirty machines and other techniques.

If it is technically possible, the machines will start cleaning on Wenceslas Square, Hradčanské náměstí and other key places at three o’clock in the morning. Other activities in the remaining locations will start at six o’clock in the morning at the latest. If it does not start reducing, the rough cleaning will end at ten o’clock in the morning at the latest, and all roads will be cleaned by no later than 2 p.m. If Prague is covered in snow, the cleanup can take up to 48 hours. With this version of TSK, the continuous hauling of snow to the Na Františku embankment, where dirt will be removed, is calculated.

The TSK will focus mainly on cleaning Wenceslas Square and adjacent streets, the pedestrian zone in the lower part of Wenceslas Square and connecting roads, Old Town Square, Královská cesta, Charles Bridge, Malostranské Square, Nerudova Street or Hradčanské Square and other places where celebrations take place right in streets.

Eleven containers will also be placed in the center of Prague, namely five on Wenceslas Square, two on Old Town Square and one each on Křižovnické Square, Havelská and Mostecká Streets and Malostranské Square.
