The Prague municipality is restricting the operation of the Regional Assistance Center for Ukrainians (KACPU) and the Center for Subsequent Support to Refugees from Ukraine (CNPUU) during the week of December 26 to 30.
It will only be open on Wednesday 28 December from 08:00 to 15:00. From the New Year, the centers will be open again at the usual times. Municipality spokesman Vít Hofman told ČTK today. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the KACPU has handled 117,000 refugees, and the CNPUU has handled 172 clients.
The KACPU municipality opened this year in mid-June in Vysočany, until then it operated in the Prague Congress Center in Nuslí. The center is intended for people who found themselves in Prague or the Central Bohemia region while fleeing the war and need to secure temporary protection, accommodation and other essentials.
The CNPUU opened the city on December 12 and serves to help refugees who have visas or so-called temporary protection, but need help with housing, health care or with placing children in schools. Both centers are in the same building on náměstí OSN in Vysočany.
According to the website www.golemio.cz, 101,000 people came to Prague since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, of which over 46,000 were women, more than 31,000 children and about four thousand senior citizens. The center handled a total of 117,000 people. Some refugees do not stay in Prague and continue on to other regions or, for example, to Germany. The largest city district, i.e. Prague 4, registers the largest number of refugees.
