Southwest Airlines says travelers stranded by vacation slump can’t rebook until Dec. 31

Stranded Southwest customers cannot book their flights until Dec. 31, according to a Southwest Airlines official who spoke to the press at Hobby International Airport on Monday.

This is a blow to customers who have been waiting to reach their final destination since the end of last week.

Customers who already have a new confirmed reservation will not be affected by this.

Southwest Airlines has canceled nearly 3,000 flights as a result of winter storm Elliott – the highest number by far among airlines, according to FlightAware.

The fallout stranded travelers across the country over the weekend as airlines were unable to quickly rebook customers due to the storm’s national impact.
