To kick off the season of giving, Stewart’s Shops has officially launched its 36th annual Holiday Match Campaign to benefit local children’s charities.

The yearly program, which runs from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day, has raised nearly $34 million since 1986 for regional nonprofit organizations that support children in need.

“We look forward to Holiday Match every year. We get to partner with our customers to raise money for kids in our communities. We can’t thank our customers enough for their generosity through the years and we are looking forward to a great Holiday Match season,” said Stewart’s Shops President Gary Dake in a statement.

Last year, customers donated over $1 million, which was doubled to more than $2 million with Stewart’s donation match, benefiting 1,716 local children’s charities across the 32 counties where Stewart’s Shops are located.

In 2021, Albany County received $293,263, the highest allocation of funding, going toward organizations including the Albany Barn, Capital District Recovery Center, Early Childhood Education Center, Friends of the Albany Children’s Center and Habitat for Humanity Capital District. (A list of all nonprofits that were awarded funds last season is available on the Stewart’s website.)

To secure funding, local nonprofits impacting children are encouraged to apply online beginning Thanksgiving Day. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31, 2023.
