There’s a huge lie on my son’s birth certificate – now he’s stuck with it for life

A SCOTS mum told how she was left speechless when her former partner lied about his occupation on their son’s birth certificate.

Ashley Kennedy, better known as TikTok user dis.ash.ter, said she was joking with her son’s dad about using a fake job such as ‘astronaut’ or ‘neurosurgeon’ when registering his birth.

But she was left stunned when he continued the prank at the registry office.

Ashley, from Wishaw, shared the hilarious result with her 4,000 followers.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, she said: “When my son was born, his dad and I were joking about how you could say anything when they ask you what your occupation is. How are they meant to challenge it?

“We were laughing about how we would put the mother’s occupation as ‘astronaut’ and the father’s job as ‘neurosurgeon’.

“We were sat in the registry office when the staff they asked me what my occupation was. I was in college at the time I said I was a student.

“They turned to him to ask the same question and with a complete straight face, he said ‘chocolatier’.

“All the staff were saying ‘oh, wow! A chocolatier, we’ve never had one of them before’.

“They started calling in all their work friends and they were all saying how amazing it was and how good it will look on the family tree.

“I wanted the ground to swallow me up.”

“He packed chocolate in a factory, so he thought it would be hilarious to call himself a chocolatier.”

She added: “He never broke eye contact with her – probably because he knew my reaction wasn’t going to be pretty.

“She began calling in her work colleagues who all had the same reaction and told us how great this would look on our family tree… he smiled and agreed, completely selling it. 

“I felt it had went too far to correct him and it would be more embarrassing than it was worth since there was now a room of very excited ladies surrounding us.

“When we left I was in shock pointing at the birth certificate telling him this would now be on our sons birth certificate for the rest of his life.

“He laughed and said technically he was just embellishing the truth since he did work with chocolate. 

“I was annoyed about it in the car on the way home. When I showed the family what he had done I expected some backup on my outrage but everyone thought it was absolutely comical.

“Every time I tell the story people think it’s great so it’s something I’ve learned to laugh at myself and I’m actually glad he done it.

“Our son now loves to claim he’s ‘Willy Wonka’s son’ because his dad was a chocolatier.”
