Warming trend takes hold as we wrap 2022

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Monday was our warmest day in a week and a half as high temperatures crested above 60 degrees. A weak cool front blowing through quietly tonight will leave us with our final morning of freezing temperatures for the week early Tuesday. Continue to protect pets, pipes, plants and people through 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Pleasant sunshine continues Tuesday afternoon with high temperatures only slightly lower behind the front, still climbing to near 60 degrees.

We are tracking two upper level storm systems on their way toward Texas over the next week. The first clips our area on Thursday and early Friday with warmer, more humid air, increased cloud cover and just a small chance of rain mainly east of I-35.

The second storm system appears to be a more direct impact in our area, bringing a higher chance of rain and possibly strong thunderstorms on Monday.

Sandwiched between those two storm systems, we expect an abnormally warm, dry weekend with partly cloudy skies and pleasant temperatures for New Year’s Eve plans.
